Stances of the Lee Style form
There are 13 basic stances in the Lee Tai Chi form.
10 of the stances can be done on the left or right, transferring your weight on to the left or right side and 3 are in a central position with the weight evenly on both sides.
On learning the form each move will be in only one of these stances at any one time so the time you take to get to know the individual stances will be very worthwhile.
As we go through life from one moment to the next we tend to just take our body for granted leaving it to DO what it DOES. Not giving it a moments thought to what we leave it to just DO. During learning the Tai Chi form and using our stances we learn to take back leaving our body to just doing and we decide where our body is going and what it is going to do by getting to feel it and know it. Practicing the stances it is important to learn to FEEL the move not just look on the outside and think that LOOKS right, we have to feel it is right on the inside.
We do this by getting to feel our feet touching the ground and feeling where we are in contact with the ground feeling the pressure between the two, then moving further up the body to our knees and feeling where our knees are, do they feel directly above our feet evenly together then move up to your hips do the hips feel straight and even above both of the knees, then up to the shoulders do these feel even and square above our hips, then to our head does it feel relaxed and comfortable sat on our shoulders. Only YOU can feel this.
Take your time as you learn each stance, get to know your body each part one at a time, then connecting each part together feeling it as one.
